Angry Medicine Ball Meteor — Unilateral Weighted Floor Smash
Pressure Cascade · Mechanism
Pick up a medicine ball, lift it overhead, and slam it into the ground with the kind of furious energy that would make a Viking proud. The One-Arm Medicine Ball Slam is a beginner core exercise that builds explosive rotational power, burns calories like a furnace, and provides the kind of stress relief that usually requires a therapist — but this is much cheaper and more effective.
You hold a medicine ball in one hand, lift it overhead, and slam it down into the ground beside you with as much force as you can generate. Your whole body is involved — your arm swings the ball down, your core crunches and rotates to add power, and your hips hinge to drive the movement. The ball should hit the ground with a satisfying thud that lets everyone in the gym know you're working through some feelings, and that's perfectly fine because that's exactly what this exercise is for. Catch the ball on the bounce — or pick it up — and repeat with the same arm or alternate sides.
The one-arm medicine ball slam builds anti-rotation core strength, which is the kind of strength that prevents your torso from twisting when it shouldn't — like when you're carrying something heavy on one side, or when you're trying to open a jar and your whole body wants to rotate but your core has to hold you in place. It's also an incredible conditioning tool that spikes your heart rate and makes you sweat like you're being interrogated. Slam hard, breathe heavy, and build a core that can resist rotation and generate power with the best of them
